Setting Goals for Summer

Setting some goals this Summer

Posted by The LYB Team on

So its July, soon to be August, we are half way through the year and before you know it, 2020 will be at your door.
This British summer has been interesting, we have had record breaking weather, in the mix of rain, thunder and lighting. This has provided us with the opportunity to get out, and have some great experiences, as well as moments to sit quietly and reflect on the past, present and future.
Reflection is a beautiful thing, it allows us assess, appreciate, ponder and dream about the exciting plans and experiences ahead. Our experiences shape us, for better or for worse, and we are able to learn a lot about ourselves, the people around us and the world we live in.
Here is the thing, there are times when we don’t experience, we remain in autopilot, busying ourselves, running our lives without thoroughly thinking about our happiness, and things that need to change. Here is another thing, we have one life on this earth to be the person God made us to be, so it’s time we all start living more, and appreciating out experiences, for better or worse.
Let’s start setting some goals, and thinking about our visions. What is your dream, where do you want to be in 10 years, 10 years after that and so on? Now, there is an element of spontaneity that will determine some of that dream and vision. But not everything in life comes to you and sometimes you have to put your best feet forward to become the dream you wish to be.
So again, what are your dreams, and what are visions. Start with the big things, and slowly break them down to goals and tasks that will get you to the vision you wish to achieve.
Let’s say you wish to do a marathon next year summer, perhaps you start with goals to eat better, and go to the gym regularly. Then you outline the tasks that will help you to do that. For example, signing up to the gym, changing your grocery list, and so on. The key thing about goal setting is that it is important to break things down into sizable chunks that work for you, in order for you to see the map of how you are going to get to your destination.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither are you.
Everything takes time, everything has a natural course, and some things just cannot be rushed. So, as well as those long-term goals, set short ones. Perhaps an activity in the next two weeks that is for you to get some “me time”.
Life is all about experiences and happiness. It is never to let to set goals, so dig out your pen and paper.
